A Scotch Inspired by Shinnecock Hills and the Hamptons

In honor of this year’s championship, Dewar’s has released its Dewar’s 19 Year Old “The Champion’s Edition” Cabernet Franc Red Wine Cask Finish, the official Scotch whisky of the 126th U.S. Open.

This limited release was inspired by the natural terrain of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club and finished in Cabernet Franc red wine casks from the renowned Wölffer Estate in Sagaponack. The result is a Scotch that feels especially connected to the East End, blending Dewar’s whisky-making heritage with one of the Hamptons’ most recognizable wine destinations.

Crafted by six-time Master Blender Stephanie Macleod, the 19-year-old Scotch continues Dewar’s tradition of innovative cask finishes within its Champion’s Edition series.

Tasting Notes: Floral, Fruity, and Warmly Spiced

Dewar’s 19 Year Old Cabernet Franc Red Wine Cask Finish offers an aromatic profile of violets and blackcurrants, followed by tasting notes of golden honey, syrupy red berries, and warm cinnamon.

The Cabernet Franc cask finish brings a subtle red fruit character and a sense of local connection that makes this bottle especially fitting for U.S. Open week in Southampton. It is also a thoughtful Father’s Day gift for golf enthusiasts, Scotch collectors, and anyone who appreciates a spirit with a story rooted in place.

The bottle has an SRP of $79.99, an ABV of 43%, and is available through Dewar’s.

The 19th Hole, Hamptons Style

The 19-year age statement feels particularly fitting for golf culture, nodding to the “19th hole,” where players and spectators gather after a round to relax, toast, and reflect on the day.

During U.S. Open week, that ritual takes on a distinctly Hamptons feel. Whether enjoyed after a day at Shinnecock Hills, at a private gathering, or as part of a Father’s Day celebration, Dewar’s latest Champion’s Edition brings together golf tradition, local wine country, and the spirit of summer entertaining.

A Father’s Day Gift for the Golf Lover

With the final round of the U.S. Open falling on Father’s Day, Dewar’s 19 Year Old Cabernet Franc Red Wine Cask Finish offers a timely gift idea for the golf lover, Scotch drinker, or Hamptons host.

Its connection to Shinnecock Hills and Wölffer Estate gives the bottle a local story, while its 19-year maturation makes it feel special enough for a milestone weekend.
