Tucked into the heart of Le Marais, with its winding streets, historic architecture, cafés, and
boutiques just outside the door, Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais has an intimate, theatrical charm and unmistakable sense of place. From the moment you see its bold blue façade, matching blue awnings, and ornate ironwork, there is a sense that you have stepped into the Paris you have always imagined.
Inside, that feeling only deepens. A 1792 piano-forte anchors the lobby, while delicate floral
wallpapers, exposed wooden beams, antique furnishings, chandeliers, and French windows
carry the spirit of 18th-century Paris throughout the hotel. It is the kind of place that makes you feel less like you are visiting Paris and more like you have somehow stepped inside it.
The Stay
Every detail at Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais reflects the charm of Beaumarchais and the spirit of the Enlightenment, while still offering the comforts expected of a modern stay. With just 19 rooms, the boutique hotel feels intimate from the start.
Rooms are divided between those overlooking the inner courtyard and front-side rooms facing the streets of Le Marais, with six of them offering balconies. My front-side room opened onto the neighborhood below, with natural light pouring through the French windows and illuminating exposed beams, antique furniture, mirrors, and chandeliers.
What I loved most was that nothing felt overly polished or staged. The historic details made the room feel as though it belonged to another time rather than simply being decorated to look like one.
While the atmosphere is decidedly old-world, the hotel still has all the modern comforts you need: an elevator, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and breakfast served daily from 7:30 a.m. to noon, either in the breakfast room or delivered directly to your room.
My Favorite 90 Seconds
My favorite ninety seconds came after I took the first bite of the French breakfast delivered to my room. Wrapped in a fluffy white robe, I sat on the balcony overlooking Le Marais, watching the neighborhood wake up below me. After a late night at the infamous Caveau de la Huchette, the morning felt wonderfully unhurried. A tray filled with fresh fruit, croissants, soft-boiled eggs, cheeses, jams, and tea sat in front of me as sunlight spilled across the zinc rooftops and into the streets below.
That morning, there was nowhere I needed to rush to experience Paris, because I already was. I was sitting above the city, eating breakfast from a tiny balcony in Le Marais, and watching it begin its day with me.
The Moments That Make It
What makes Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais feel so distinctly Parisian is the care behind every detail.
I remember meeting my friend outside for the first time and looking up at the bold blue façade, ornate wrought-iron railings, and blue fabric awnings moving gently in the breeze. Before we had even stepped inside, we knew we had arrived somewhere special.
That feeling continued in the lounge, where antique floral wallpaper surrounded a Louis XV-style harp, period furnishings, a gaming table, and an eclectic collection of objects. Rather than feeling like a museum or a carefully constructed set, the space felt invitingly lived in.
Then there was our room. Drenched in natural light, with exposed wooden beams and antique furniture, including a beautiful antique vanity, it already felt like ours. When we opened the balcony doors and stepped outside, my friend and I immediately started jumping up and down, hardly believing we were actually there. As we looked out over the rooftops of Le Marais, surrounded by the architecture we had come to Paris to see, the room suddenly felt less like a hotel room and more like our own little piece of Paris. Those are the moments that make the stay.
Who This Hotel Is Actually For
Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais is for travelers who want their hotel to feel like part of the
destination rather than simply a place to sleep.
It is especially well suited to travelers drawn to character, history, and thoughtful design, as well as those who want the romance of Paris to continue even after they return to their room. I could particularly see it being a wonderful choice for a girls' trip, a solo traveler, or a mother-daughter getaway.
Its location in Le Marais also makes it especially appealing to travelers who want to spend their days wandering rather than constantly relying on taxis or the Metro. And for vintage shoppers, the neighborhood's collection of luxury vintage boutiques makes the location even more enticing.
For me, the appeal is simple: Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais doesn't just give you a place to
stay. It invites you to live inside the dream that is a trip to Paris.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris: Approximately a 10-minute walk from the hotel, this iconic medieval cathedral is a natural stop during a morning or afternoon exploring the Île de la Cité.
Place des Vosges: About a 12-minute walk from the hotel, this historic square is surrounded by red-brick buildings and arched walkways. It is an ideal place to pause with a coffee or book after wandering through Le Marais.
Le Petit Marché: A cozy neighborhood bistro blending classic French fare with Asian influences, located just a short walk from Place des Vosges. The duck was, quite simply, the best I have ever had.
Officine Universelle Buly: Just a one-minute walk from the hotel, this beautifully designed
Parisian apothecary is known for its fragrances, beauty products, and handcrafted accessories. I especially loved its engraved combs, which make for a thoughtful souvenir from a stay in Paris.
